Excavate those trenches well for your drain system

Effluents are transported from the utilities to the sewer or septic tank with the help of drainage pipes. In the case of the home sewer system, pipes are placed in between the inspection chambers. The system is supposed to keep itself clean and prevent the occurrence of any blockage. Correct gradients are used for this purpose. Normally UPVC pipework is employed in the sewer system. However testing is very important before the system can start functioning. The tests must be conducted in between the inspection chambers to allow each part of the system to be thoroughly checked.

It is necessary to install drainage pipes in trenches. Trench depth has to be between 300 to 500 millimeters. Concrete structure is built to shield the system in case there is a walkway, parking zone or driveway above it. To begin laying the lines, first excavate the trenches to the necessary depths. The trenches should lead to or directed towards the tanks or sewers, away from the home. One to four is the acceptable ratio of the slope to be created. The bottom of the trenches should be rammed and compacted properly. Pegs can be used to set accurate levels in the trench bottoms.

It is necessary to lay the drainage pipes in a straight line without curves or kinks. When the pipes have to be fixed on a slope or towards the building, join the sections with sockets. An even and solid ground is required for laying the system throughout its length. The female and male sockets should be joined firmly using a strong adhesive. Make sure that you follow all the instructions for the adhesive, as specified by the manufacturer. At the joint of the pipe and inspection chamber, the pipe must be fixed properly upto the full wall thickness of the chamber. Remove the accumulated debris from the pipes whenever possible.

When the drainage pipes are laid, they must be explored and checked out carefully. Make sure that they are not punctured at any point. The foundation must have socket recesses for it is incomplete without them. These recesses should be kept short and compact. The inlet and outlet of the inspection chamber must be even and ordered. The system is then covered with soil after all joints are complete. Connect to the sewer or septic tank. The drainage is finally completed by connecting the utilities to the tank.
